Blowing Dust Off The Blog
/It's time. I've been itching to blog, thinking about blogging, planning to blog and--the true telling point for someone like me who is the living embodiment of reverse psychology--coming up with reasons why I shouldn't blog.
And so we begin again.
What did you miss while I was away? To quote Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride,"Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up."
PERSONAL LIFE
Most of you are probably aware Blair and I divorced last year. What's freaking folks out is that we remain friends. In fact, Mom and I spent Thanksgiving at Blair's new (very cool, I must say) bachelor loft where he fixed his traditional coma-inducing feast of carbs that was oh-so-good. For those wondering, he is doing fantastic. I believe my comment to him was, "Don't think I haven't noticed how you've flourished since we separated. Rude."
WRITING
I'm doing a little flourishing of my own. My most recent book, The Paleo-Vegetarian Diet, came out in May and is doing quite well for a book with little to no publicity thrown behind it. I was promoted at SFW in the spring and the work there is always fun and challenging. Plus, I'm spending this week looking through some old manuscripts. There's one for middle-grade kids I think holds promise and I plan to work on it in the New Year.
TRAINING/RACES
This year was supposed to be my year of PRs, race wise. I did PR in the half and full marathon (beat my old marathon PR by a whopping 2 seconds at 3:23:37. I'll take it.). I did not even come close in the 5K I ran and my 100 miles at Hinson Lake 24-Hour run eluded me yet again. It rained all day and I closed up shop just after midnight with 77 miles. Still, that was my fastest 77 miles to date, followed by a fast 40 miles in November at Crooked Road. I also logged a 150-mile bike ride this year so all-in-all, a good race season.
(NOTE: Major changes coming in the New Year. Stay tuned.)
CAT
Snowball is still the fatest cat known to man. Or at least to my vet. I tell myself he's under 20, but I'm not so sure. He's still snarky and standoff-ish. I love him.
I did a small amount of traveling this year, but not as much as I'd prefer. Beware all friends around the country who have made the "Come visit ANYTIME," offer. You may see me on your doorstep this year.
So there you have it. Enough detail to get you up-to-speed for 2016 blogging. If you're still here with me, that is. I hope you've missed reading the blogs as much as I've missed writing them. Hang on tight--2016 promises to be a whirlwind of fun.
Cheers,
