The Taiwanese Love Me

It's like Christmas all over again.

Yesterday I arrived home to find a box full of books from my publisher (Ten Speed Press/Random House). The cool part? The books were all the foreign editions of Who Moved My Mouse? A Self-Help Book For Cats (Who Don't Need Any Help). Just for the record, seeing what the words you wrote look like translated into another lanugage is a hoot. I'm loving the look of my author profile in what I think is Chinese? The only big one still missing is Russia. Must track down the Russian version of my book!

I'm going to go curl up with a Taiwanese dictionary and work my way through some cat humor.

Cheers,

Let Them Eat... Wait, That's Not Allowed On This Diet

Just when you thought ALL the funny material that could ever be written about cats already existed, a new book comes along to challenge your perspective and make you ask, "Huh. Are more jokes about overweight tabbies really necessary in my life?"

The answer is yes, yes they are. I'm happy to announce that Ten Speed Press/Random House has picked up the contract on my next book. Does This Collar Make My Butt Look Big? A Diet Book for Cats will be released in Fall 2013.

Similar to the set-up of my last book where each chapter parodied a popular self-help book on the market, this book attacks human diets and exercise plans and examines them from a cat's pont of view, which is is to say the diets are viewed while napping upside down over the edge of the couch.

Needless to say, I've spent a whole lotta time this summer reading diet books. Paleo, South Beach, Atkins, Raw Food, Slow Carb, Dukan, all carb, no carb, fasts, cleanses, celebrity diets... there's no lack of material to pull from.

A Small World of Happy Conincidences

True story.

A woman who works in Blair's group  had a birthday last week. Her husband gave her a book, For The Love of Cats, that he'd randomly found and purchased on Amazon. The woman looked at the title page, saw my name and said, "That's Blair's wife!"

I just find it kind of cool that of all the cat books out there (and trust me... there are a few), this man happened to pick out one that was written by the wife of the guy his wife works with.

One hundred thousand more small coincidences like that and I'll be a millionaire. ;)

Forgotten BarkWorld Expo Interview

Googled my name this morning (Oh hush, you do it too) and found this video recorded during the BarkWorld Expo I attended last year as a speaker. I'd completely forgotten I'd done this brief interview.

What's funny is that if you click on the link above, it takes you to the Barkworld home page which happens to be a big picture of me being interviewed for this very video. Who knew? (Click through the images if mine doesn't pop up right away.)

Note to self: Wear more makeup on camera and quit starting your sentences with "Um." You sound like a moron.

Cheers,

Dena
