When Do You Know You’re In Love?

When do you know you’re in love? For me, I can pinpoint the exact moment when I knew, without reservation, that Blair was the man for me.

We had gone to the mountains for a quick romantic get-away and were on our way back home. We had the radio tuned to an oldies station and the song The Witch Doctor came on. Remember this?

I told the witch doctorI was in love with you

And then the witch doctor, He told me what to do

He said that

Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang

Walla walla, bing bang

Ooo eee ooo ah ah ting tang

Walla walla bing bang...♫

 Blair and I were singing along enthusiastically, as people who are bored and driving through the mountains are wont to do.

Now, pause this scene and travel back in time with me. Remember The Muppet Show? They did a segment featuring this same Witch Doctor song which, through the magic of YouTube, you can enjoy here:

The important part of the video is at the end. See how the witch doctor comes out and screeches, “I tol' you never to tell anyone!” That’s important. Remember that.

Okay, so we’re back in the car. We’re singing. We’re having fun. The last line of the song arrives and we sing it with gusto, “…ting tang walla walla bing BANG!”

There is a moment’s silence and then, simultaneously, both of us cry out, “I tol' you never to tell anyone!” Shocked, we look at one another and again, in perfect unison, cry out, “MUPPETS!!”

Right then, folks. I knew without a doubt this was the man for me.

And I was right.
